Our Policies
Covid 19 Action Plan
This document sets out what the Alt Prov has done – and plans to do – to tackle the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, this is based on The UK government guidelines based on their experience dealing with other infectious diseases and our influenza pandemic preparedness work with a supporting document and notes at the end of our action plan
There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus.
Symptoms to be aware of are:
a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature).
a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual).
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.
Actions To Take To Aid With Preventing The CORONAVIRUS:
Wash your hands often – with soap and water, or use alcohol sanitizer if hand-washing facilities are not available. This is particularly important after taking public transport or being in public areas.
● Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in a bin. See Catch it, Bin it, Kill it
● Adults or children who feel unwell should stay at home and should not attend work or any education or childcare setting
● It is recommended that children, staff and visitors should wash their hands: before leaving home, on arrival at school, after using the toilet, after breaks and sporting activities, before food preparation, before eating any food, including snacks and drinks, before leaving school, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, avoid close contact with people who are unwell, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
If you are worried about your symptoms or those of a child or colleague, please call NHS 111. Do not go directly to your GP or other healthcare environment see further information on the Public Health England Blog and the NHS UK website. PHE has a suite of materials that contains public health advice about how you can help stop the spread of viruses, like those that cause COVID-19, by practising good respiratory and hand hygiene.
Face masks for the general public, children, or staff are not recommended to protect from infection, as there is no evidence of benefit from their use outside healthcare environments.
Returning to our Setting

UK Government notes
The exact response to coronavirus (COVID-19) will be tailored to the nature, scale and location of the threat in the UK, as our understanding of this develops. Further details and links to guidelines can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-action-plan
The document sets out:
- what we know about the virus and the disease it causes
- how we have planned for an infectious disease outbreak such as the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
- the actions taken so far in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
- what we are planning to do next, depending on the course the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak takes
- the role the public can play in supporting this response, now and in the future
The current novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which began in December 2019, presents a significant challenge for the entire world. The UK government and devolved administrations, including the health and social care system, have planned extensively over the years for an event like this. The UK is therefore well prepared to respond in a way that offers substantial protection to the public.
There are three simple actions we must all do to keep on protecting each other
- Wash hands keep washing your hands regularly
- Cover face wear a face-covering in enclosed spaces
- Make space stay at least 2 meters apart – or 1 meter with a face covering or other precautions
